Asterian Astrology is not new. The star positions it uses are the ones the ancient Egyptians aligned their pyramids to, and the ones Vedic astrologers in India passed down for thousands of years. In the West the keys to reading them were lost. In this system they have been recovered.
Around the beginning of the common era, Greek and Indian astronomers brought their knowledge together in a text called the Yavana Jataka. It describes the twenty-seven stars with their deities, animals and ruling planets.
Unlike Western astrology, Asterian works with the stars as they stand now, not with a calendar frozen thousands of years ago. The stars your reading uses are the stars you can see tonight.
Vedic masters such as Paramahansa Yogananda affirmed for centuries that this sidereal system works with the real position of the stars, and that it gives insight into the karmic path a person walks. A living tradition.
Twelve signs is a coarse grid. Twenty-seven stars gives more than double the resolution, and that is why people who never recognised themselves in their sun sign suddenly do recognise themselves in their Asterian star.
The system also goes a step beyond character sketch. Every star belongs to a deity and an animal. Four of those animals together form your personal totem: an image of the wisdom you carry, where your grounding sits, where your desire lies, and which spiritual path you walk.
Beyond that the system knows a personal star: a deity who accompanies your particular way. She is found by following three steps through your chart. In the tradition, this is the star you are here to reach in this life.

The ista devata, or personal star, is the deity who accompanies your particular path in this life. She is found by following the ruler of your ascendant star, and seeing which star that planet occupies in your chart.

Who am I, how do I live, and where am I going? In one extended live session of an hour and a half I tell you the whole story: your core chart, your animal totem and your personal star. Afterwards you receive one PDF in which everything comes together.
You send me your date of birth, exact time and place. For a precise calculation the time matters down to the minute.
I calculate your chart according to the Asterian Astrology system, which I learned personally from my teacher Jade Sol Luna. The calculation is exact: your date, time and place of birth determine your whole chart, down to the minute. Nothing is sensed or guessed; what I add afterwards is the interpretation, the story the positions tell together.
We speak for half an hour on Zoom, without video: just our voices. I walk you through your chart, and afterwards there is room for your questions.
Within a few days you receive your reading written out as a PDF, to keep and return to.
I am Sylvia Holtslag, a transformation coach, and for the past year and a half I have been training as an astrologer with Jade Sol Luna, the man who brought the oldest astrological system in the world back to its original form.
Asterian Astrology exists thanks to Jade Sol Luna. He reconstructed the Yavana Jataka, the oldest known astrological text, back to the Greco-Roman system where it all began: 27 stars instead of 12 signs. A system that for centuries was reserved for priests, and that reached India through Alexander the Great, where it merged into Vedic astrology.
Jade lived and studied in India for many years. He travelled there more than thirty times, trained as an astrologer in the United States and in India, and studied advanced mysticism with teachers in the line of Meher Baba. During a long period of silence in India he translated the Yavana Jataka back to its Greco-Roman origins, without knowing that nobody had ever done so before. He wrote several books on it, among them Asterian Astrology: The Lost System of Alexander the Great, and built an international practice that has now existed for more than twenty years. His readings are known for their precision and detail, and that is my own experience too.
That precision is exactly why I ended up with him.
I never had anything to do with astrology. Until, in 2019, I booked my first reading with Jade and something happened that I could not reason away: he told me things about my life, my character and my path that were right down to the detail. His predictions came true as well. He called me a late bloomer, someone who only truly comes into flower later in life, in this work too. Seven years and many readings later, I can only conclude that he was right.
Not by chance, I think, Jade and I share the same birthday: 8 May, with the sun in the star Hades. In my chart that sun sits in the tenth house, the house of calling and of life's work. Hades is the star of transformation, of the light you find by going into the depths. That has always been the core of my coaching work, long before I knew it was in my chart. My moon is in the star Sol, which points to an old connection with healing and with astrology itself. This work was already in me. It was only waiting for the right moment.
When I was given the chance to learn from Jade himself, I took it with both hands. I am grateful that I get to learn this system straight from the source, and that I may now pass it on.
I am still growing, and I gladly intend to keep growing. The readings I offer now are my starter readings: a thorough calculation of your chart in the Asterian system, as I learn it personally from my teacher and astrologer Jade Luna.
